With your reseller program, why would you need the name servers? Does using my own personalized name server allow me to transfer registration under my own dns servers? This way I wouldn't ever have to use Stargate again? Or am I actually transfering my registration to you and handing over the yearly registration fee of my domains over to you? If so, then are you charging a yearly fee to host/register additional domains under my account? I don't quite understand how this works.

Thanks, Alex

Personalized name servers simply mean you can use NS1.YOUROWNDOMAIN.COM and NS2.YOUROWNDOMAIN.COM, instead of NS1.ROCHENHOST.COM and NS2.ROCHENHOST.COM. This allows you as a reseller to remain completely anonymous and make it look like you are operating your very own servers and hosting company.

The domain registration would stay with the company you currently have it with and you would continue to pay them the annual registration fee. We don't provide domain registration services.

If you have any further questions, please let me know... :)

When setting up a hosting domain on the reseller account (master control panel) you really don't need to use a name server correct? Since our registrar will point our domains to whatever ip address we prefer, why would a customer even need a dns name server? Usually they can obtain a dns server from their current broadband, or dial up company for home use and for hosting they shouldn't need to use a name server right, because it's already on your servers?

I am not really sure what you mean. However, you must point your domain name to the name servers we provide or it wont work on our servers.

I did a who is lookup on our domain name and this is what I come up with.

Domain Name: KOSMOSWEBDESIGNS.COM
Registrar: STARGATE COMMUNICATIONS, INC.
Whois Server: whois.stargateinc.com
Referral URL: http://www.stargateinc.com
Name Server: DNS1.STARGATEINC.NET
Name Server: DNS2.STARGATEINC.NET
Status: ACTIVE
Updated Date: 30-oct-2002
Creation Date: 25-sep-2002
Expiration Date: 25-sep-2003

So, in actuality if we use our own name servers. Stargate will still show up as our registrar and our name server will change from stargate's info to our domain info, correct? Does having your own name server give the alusion of more respectability, even though stargate will still be listed as the registrar?

Yes that's correct. The name server has nothing what so ever to do with the domain registrar. The name server simply points the domain name to the server hosting it.
