quick question.. what would the shared QuickSSL URL look like? Would it be in the format https://www.mydomain.com ?

Nope, it wouldn't. It would be https://servername.rochen.com/~username. There is no way we can offer https://www.yourdomain.com for free. You would need your own certificate for that :)
