Hi Chris,
You might remember me from another forum. (I'll tell you which one later.)
I currently have a couple of dedicated servers and am giving one up in favor of a reseller account for the handfull of hosting clients that we have. We're moving some design clients over to our other dedicated.
My question is, would you be willing to move our accounts to a reseller account on your server if I provide you with root access to our server? If I can't get the root password from @$^*&, can you still do it?
Thanks,
Me
Chris

Hi,
Welcome to the forums :)
Sorry, moving accounts isn't part of our service. It simply consumes way to much support time. However, my recommendation would be to do a server-to-server transfer over SSH. That way, you wont need to download all the files etc.
So what forum do you know me from then?

mch & atf
I wish I knew how to do that. SSH isn't one of my strong suits. So I would need to sign up with you and have SSH activated on my account. What comes next?

Since it's from "there"...
Shoot me an email: chris@rochen.com - with the number of accounts, server etc.

If both servers support it you can also use fxp. It's basically server-to-server ftp. Many ftp clients (like SmartFTP (http://www.smartftp.com/)) have the ability to do this.

This is true! :) You might remember me as Fisherman. I hope you don't have another Fisherman in here. I like that name.

Many thanks! I'll be e-mailing you in just a bit.
I have to move 4 design clients to my other dedicated before this move takes place.

That sounds nifty. I'll have to see if that will work. Will this method take care of all of the e-mail accounts, databases and other files?

Nope, you would need to dump the databases - either via SSH or phpMyAdmin on the old server and then re-import them on the new server. Overall, it's a fairly simple process.
Also, remember, cPanel has the neat little tool where you can backup your files via the control panel. So simply backup the files, email config settings etc. and then import them again on the new account :)

Having a little trouble getting root access from them. I'll get that e-mail out to you when I get it all together. ;)

Just signed up and sent you a couple of e-mails.
I am now a customer of Rochen Engineered Webhosting! That works out good since I'm an engineer. ;)
Requesting access to the secret sub-levels of the forums.

Access to the customer areas has been enabled. I shall have you setup now :)
We will move the account over tomorrow though, probably around 18:00 GMT. (13:00 EST.) I shall send you an email with information on this at the time.

Tommorrow will be fine because it'll allow the nameservers and such to migrate overnight. My others migrated that fast.
So, what sort of crazy people do you have on these forums? :buck:

Glad that works for you too
Just a note, don't add any of the accounts via the WHM on our server or it will cause problems when we come to copy them :)
