I currently have 3 domains registered with VeriSign. I don't have any web sites developed for any of them, and am looking to start. Couple of questions. First, if I want you to host the new site, how do I move the domain from VeriSign to you, and is there any cost involved? Second, I currently use Dreamweaver 3 to put together a web site for a friend of mine. Could I use that to create my site with you? Third, can one of the moved domains just be used for e-mail to the domain, or would I need to put together a simple one page site for that?

Thanks.

No, not if you already own the domain. We simply will provide you with Name Server information and you update the Domain Name Record with Versign to reflect these changes. The domain will then point to our servers around 24 - 72 hours after you make these changes :)

Second, I currently use Dreamweaver 3 to put together a web site for a friend of mine. Could I use that to create my site with you?
Absolutely, then you simply upload your pages via FTP and away you go.

Third, can one of the moved domains just be used for e-mail to the domain, or would I need to put together a simple one page site for that?
When the domains are setup, they are setup to support both email, websites etc. If you just use it for email, that's up to you and you can by all means do that :)

If you have any further questions, please let me know :)

Thanks for the quick reply. Got another question for you. Help me out with Data Transfer. I'm looking at you and one other hosting company. You offer 5GB, while the other offers 10. If the first site I'm looking to put up will be a collection of travel related photography, how does data transfer figure into the equation?

It really depends how large the photos are, how many people view them etc. I can't really give you a set number, unfortunately.

Companies may offer more data transfer etc. than us, however we give a set amount of bandwidth which allows us to do three things 1) Give top notch technical support (response times like you see here) 2) Still be in business in 3 years time and 3) Provide good bandwidth over 75 + networks to keep your site up and running to the maximum degree possible.

:)

I wasn't too clear in my question, but I think you answered it. Data transfer is based on the size of the files and the number of times they're viewed. So if I have a photo that 100K and it's viewed by 10 people, that's 1MB of transfer? In order to reach 5GB of transfers, I'd need 50 photos, each viewed by 1000 people? (I think my math is right) Is my thinking correct?

Yes.
You are correct.

1024kb = 1MB
1024MB = 1GB

So taking approximate figures here, a 100kb image, downloaded 1000 times equals approximately 1GB of Bandwidth :)

Viewed, Downloaded - same thing, any transfer counts as "Data Transfer" :)
