Hello!
I am considering purchasing a reseller plan but I have a couple questions:
Do you have Secure Server (https) support for some of my clients/domains? And if so how is the certificate handled?
If for some reason my websites go over my allocated bandwidth usage how much is the over costs? I will probably just upgrade the account when this happens, but I am curious how much a little bit over costs in case it happens.
Also when I add a new website (domain) how do I access it before I setup the DNS and/or before the DNS switches from the old host and for testing purposes before going live? Is there something like http://myaccount/~domain?
Finally, if my reseller domain is "mydomain.com" can I setup zone files so that for example www.mydomain.com goes to rochen servers (my website) but testsite.mydomain.com goes to a totally different IP address/server (i.e. my local linux box)?
Thanks and I look forward to working with you.

Hello!
Hello and welcome to our forums :)
Do you have Secure Server (https) support for some of my clients/domains?
We have shared SSL installed, which you can by all means use, however it's not anonymous. Shared SSL isn't really a sensible solution for serious eCommerce sites or resellers looking to provide their clients with SSL support. Mainly due to the fact Shared SSL will not track bandwidth stats etc.
And if so how is the certificate handled?
To use our preinstalled certificate you would just go to https://servername.domain.com/~accountusername and for your own SSL certificate you would use https://www.yourhost.com and your clients can use https://www.yourhost.com/~clientusername. We can install SSL certificates free of charge.
If for some reason my websites go over my allocated bandwidth usage how much is the over costs? I will probably just upgrade the account when this happens, but I am curious how much a little bit over costs in case it happens.
We don't have overages for any of the reseller plans. If you go over, you simply upgrade your plan to the next level. For example from Plan 1 to Plan 2 :)
Also when I add a new website (domain) how do I access it before I setup the DNS and/or before the DNS switches from the old host and for testing purposes before going live? Is there something like http://myaccount/~domain?
Yes, you would just use http://www.yourresellerdomain.com/~username or http://ip/~username
Finally, if my reseller domain is "mydomain.com" can I setup zone files so that for example www.mydomain.com goes to rochen servers (my website) but testsite.mydomain.com goes to a totally different IP address/server (i.e. my local linux box)?
Yes, that can be done. That is just a case of changing/adding an A record in the DNS zone file.
Thanks and I look forward to working with you.
Your welcome, please ask if you have any further questions :)

Thanks for the quick response Chris!
Just have couple more questions for ya: ;)
In reguards to SSL. How would it be or how would I set it up if my clients wants to use their own SSL? For example lets say they want their secure part of the website URL be https://www.clientdomain.com? Is this possible with the reseller plan and would I need you to set it up or can I do it from the control panel?
How would the pop3 and smtp be setup for my domain as well as my clients? What would the pop3 and smtp servers be for each?
Also, some of my clients like to use web based email when they are away. Is this possible?
Thanks again!

No problem :)

You would basically tell us the information required for the SSL, such as what address you want to use it on etc. we would generate the certificate request, you would go and purchase the secure certificate and then give us the key which you were provided by from the company with which you registered the certificate. We can then install it for you on the server.
We can give you access via your reseller control panel to install the cert, however we tend not to do that and do it ourselves. Because if the wrong data is entered it could well crash the Apache web server. So we tend to deal with it.

The address would be mail.clientdomain.com for both POP3 and SMTP.
Also, some of my clients like to use web based email when they are away. Is this possible?
Yes, your client can access webmail via http://www.clientdomain.com/webmail
Please let me know if there is anything else :)

Again thanks so much for the fast replies.
Got another question: ;)
In reguards to SMTP what method do you use again spam relaying? Is it even with smpt they must use a username and password or do you use the receive mail on the IP before sending is allowed method?
Thanks again!

Must have a valid username and password. We used to have it setup with POP3 before SMTP however that has now changed to password authentication. We do not have any open SMTP servers.

Ok I am sold. I am signing up! ;)
If I send (PM) you my order number could you rush the setup? I want to start moving sites and testing things out (get use to the control panels) so when I switch the DNS for my domains, it will be as smooth as possible.
Thanks again Chris!

I will have you setup as soon as the order comes through this end of the pipe and is confirmed.
Thanks for your order :)

Ok thanks again Chris. I just finished my order, as well as registered in the forums too ;)
How long does it usually take for your Payment Processor to authorize my order? I'm anxious to get started ;)

The time varies depending on your location, credit card processor and how busy the system is. I will have you setup as soon as the order comes through at this end. Welcome to Rochen :)

My location is Dayton, OH if that matters.
One quick question. How does the DNS work for my website. I know my name server will be ns1.mydomain.com but I still want to move my main website which is www.mydomain.com. What would be the name server I use for my domain?

You will have to use ns1.yourdomain.com if you want to move it...

One note about bandwidth and Reseller Plans.
You have a pool of bandwidth that you and your customers pull from that is provided by the package you get.
When you set up different accounts under your Reseller Plan, you pull from the pool of server resources you buy under the Reseller Account.
You have full control over how much bandwidth that is provided to your customers. They can't go over that limit that you set, also, I assume that you can't give bandwidth that you don't have. Meaning, if you have 10 sites at a limit of 1 GB each and you have only 10 GB, the system would not allow you to give out 11 GB. You would then have to upgrade your Reseller Plan to make a new account.

The system would allow you to allocate 100GB to an account, however when the Reseller Plan limit is reached, be that 10GB for example, you will then need to upgrade the plan or the sites will shut down due to being over the bandwidth quota.
