Here is my testimonial. I have been with Rochen for 16 months and I feel that it is time for me to write a testimonial to show that Rochen gives nothing that the best possible service in the long term. Not just during sales.
When I first moved to Rochen, I was absolutely shattered. I had been through the mill. I'd been moving from one provider to another, experiencing nothing but problems. One company even pulled the plug on my server because I "gave them lip", because of the constant downtime which resulted in me losing half my customers ( which took thousands of dollars and many months of advertising to gain). Not mentioning any "McNames* ..Mc*Cough*.
The reason I am here at the Rochen forums in the first place, is because I recently decided to move from Rochen. I wanted more room "at a cheaper price". So, I went over to ev1 and leased a dedicated server for $119 per month. Wow what a price, huh? Well, um.. no. Not wow. I canceled my server after 5 days and I have requested a refund. I haven't heard back from them (nor do I think I will).
I probably shouldn't go into detail about my problems with ev1 this week, because this is a testimonial for Rochen, not a review of ev1, but it needs to be said that moving my sites over to ev1 gave me a good reminder of why I stopped moving from "provider to provider" in the first place. It reminded me of why I stopped at Rochen for 16 months.
During this thread titled "I'd like a dedicated server.. (http://forums.rochen.com/showthread.php?p=24561#post24561)" it became clear that for my purposes, (free hosting) it wouldn't be wise of me (to use as a business plan) to lease a whole dedicated server from Rochen. I was about to compromise the generous, friendly Rochen service (and quality), which I have apparently come to take for granted for "more space and bandwidth" ..elsewhere.
Needless to say, I should have just contacted Rochen in the first place. Rochen [Brad] called me and asked me what I wanted to do. He told me that I can lease multiple reseller accounts. That way, as my business needs more server resources I can still expand, buying one new reseller account at a time.
I was happy about this, but complained that I want all my sites and customers sites to use my one nameserver. He had a solution for that too, so now I can have many reseller accounts, expand as much as I like and all my sites can use the one nameserver for when things get big enough and profitable enough to warrant leasing a full Rochen server.
The moral of the story here is that I should have just contacted Rochen. There is absolutely no comparison between the way Rochen operates, compared to the services of the other providers I've used.
You may be thinking.. hmm, but I think Brad just called you to keep you and you're getting an alternative that is second best. Let me say to you that Brad didn't call me to tell me what he wanted to do for me. He called me and asked what I need. Then he listened. Then he did his utmost best to accommodate my needs, and offered a solution.
Yes I could go and get a dedicated server elsewhere, but being a one man business, and running web hosting services, this would be stupid. I've been online for a while now and I've run hosting before. If you want to run web hosting, you absolutely must have everything working 100% of the time. Software needs to be up to date 100% of the time. You need support at your fingertips 100% of the time. You need the latest versions of everything running 100% of the time, and you need speed! You need to be able to move accounts around as services grow, and if you're not a qualified system admin, then you probably shouldn't be running a web hosting service. This is why my service fell down before. I had poor quality providers, lack of service and my expertise wasn't enough to fill the void.
Now, I can build my web hosting services. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that I'll never have a complaint from a customer. I know that when the time comes for me to merge all of my reseller accounts onto one server, Rochen WILL do this for me at no extra charge. But more than that, they'll do it "properly". They'll do it with a smile, and I highly doubt there will be any downtime, loss of customers or profits associated with the move.
I am so happy that Brad gave me a call. I was in the process of moving. I had the ev1 server. I had half my sites moved over. I was ALREADY experiencing numerous problems at the same time. I wasn't getting support and the staff were not helping.
Thank you Rochen and thank you Brad. MY business cannot fail. Now I (as a single man business) can offer hosting to my members and customers with a "virtual" IT team behind me. Now after several years of losing many thousands of dollars, I am in the position to start building my business. I have absolute faith in Rochen.
I don't have further words to describe how safe I feel here.
Rochen is THE best provider on the face of this planet, and that's coming from someone who has used many of the top providers services (as well as many others).
Look no further. You've found home.
