Moving over reseller account
I was wondering how easy it would be to transfer my clients sites from my current reseller to your reseller package.
I have none of my clients domains registered with my current host as I register them elsewhere which should make things much easier. Plus threr are no mysql databases to bring over. I am using WHM and each client has a cpanel account and it looks like you have the same setup here. What I am hoping I can do is 1. Setup the accounts on your reseller system 2. Use backup wizard to backup home directory 3. Restore on the new cpanels on your system 4. Update nameservers for the domains I know this will bring over their site's files but will this also bring over all their Email. My main concern is that their email will be down for a long period of time while the nameservers update. If it can be done quickly without any hastle for my clients I would be very interested in changing over to you. Could you also confirm that clients won't get a security certificate warning in browsers before they can access their cpanel and email on cpanel. Had this problem with another reseller. Many thanks for your help, I really like the setup here and the Vault Managed Backups. I plan on hosting the sites in the UK Last edited by Nick; 29th November 2009 at 05:51 PM. |

Thanks for your post
![]() To address your questions - a) Yes, this plan to restore backups will work fine. However, an easier way would be to download full backups of your cPanel accounts, do not create any new accounts here at Rochen, upload the full cPanel backups to your primary reseller account and then open a ticket asking us to restore them for you. This is not an official service we offer though, so the ticket will likely be assigned once you submit it to be handled during the night hours when our support loads are low. Doing it this way will restore all email, databases, files etc. b) cPanel uses self-signed SSL certificates so you will receive a certificate warning if using the SSL version. The connection is perfectly secure though. Full SSL certificates can be used for sites themselves and it is advisable to do so. Please let us know if we can be of any further help.

Just wanted to add, we can use the method described in 'a' above for all accounts apart from your primary reseller account itself. So if that's an account you already have setup you will need to use the transfer method you described initially.
